Appointments

All patients are seen by appointment. Appointments for on-going/chronic problems, preventive care (well visits), and school or sports physicals should be made as far in advance as possible. This will enable our staff to schedule your child's appointment at a time that is convenient for you. Please inform our appointment secretary of any special concerns or chronic problems that need to be addressed so that we may allot adequate time for these visits. When you schedule an appointment, you may request a particular medical practitioner, and we will make every effort to honor those requests. Please note that our late afternoon and evening appointments usually fill up first. If you have a special appointment problem, please discuss it with one of our staff members or providers. Please be aware that you may incur a charge if you fail to show up for an appointment and do not notify us at least a day in advance. Please be on time for your appointments. This enables us to minimize your waiting time. Also, please keep us informed of any changes in home address and telephone numbers. We make an effort to confirm appointments ahead of time, but the responsibility for keeping and appointment is ultimately yours.

Answering Service

When you call the office after regular hours or on weekends, you will be instructed by our answering machine on how to contact the health care professional taking calls at that time. On weekday evenings and on weekends our office uses a nurse triage service, staffed by professionals trained specifically for telephone triage, and towards whose training and performance we have direct input. They should respond to your questions and problems knowledgeably, courteously and promptly. If they have any questions, or if they are unable to provide a satisfactory answer or solution, they can reach the covering physician by beeper. When the triage service is not available, the message on the answering machine will advise you on how to reach the covering physician. If you have a life threatening emergency please dial 911 immediately. Otherwise you may contact the on-call physician as instructed on our taped message. The covering doctors and triage nurses are available for problems that need to be addressed after hours and cannot wait until our weekday "call hour". Thank you for your cooperation.
Lumberton Office
Each weekday morning from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM some of the physicians and nurse practitioners answer the phones, taking questions and making sick visit appointments during a "call hour". We encourage you to call us at this time with any medical, behavioral, developmental, or nutritional questions or problems. The rest of our staff, including our billing and insurance specialists, start their working hours at 9:00 AM.
